The TOTO S550e Washlet and the Bio Bidet BB-2000 are two of the best selling bidet toilet seats here at BidetKing. The TOTO S550e is widely considered the highest quality bidet seat that money can buy. The Bio Bidet 2000, on the other hand, is more popular and offers superior spray pressure. So how do you compare them and which one is the best? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for in a bidet seat. In this article we’ll address these topics and many other questions between these two flagship models from TOTO and Bio Bidet.

Design
TOTO’s high end washlets have always been known for their superior, low profile design. The S550e continues this trend and has a sleeker overall silhouette than virtually any other luxury bidet seat. At just 4 ¾” tall in the rear, the S550e is about a full inch lower than the BB-2000. Its design is more minimalistic and its lid has a unibody look which covers the entire rear panel when closed. The Bio Bidet BB-2000, on the other hand, is slightly wider and taller in the rear. It also sports a silver accent that runs across its rear portion. The BB-2000 has a robust look that’s more similar to other bidet seats on the market.

Another wrinkle is that the TOTO S550e washlet comes in two different styles for its lid: contemporary and classic. The classic lid has a decorative bevel edge that’s suited for more traditional decor, while the contemporary lid will be more modern and minimalistic.

Spray Capability
The Bio Bidet BB-2000 undoubtedly has some of the strongest spray pressure on the electronic bidet market. Its superior spray is its main strength and users who prefer a more powerful wash will for sure favor the Bio Bidet. The rear wash function is very nicely aerated and provides great cleansing ability. The spray pressure can of course, always be turned down, but for those that require a little more - the BB-2000 delivers. The Bio Bidet also has the unique enema function. The enema function is a powerful, narrow spray that helps alleviate constipation. Some users refuse to own a bidet seat without an effective enema functions, while others refuse to even try it. To each their own!
The TOTO S550e also has a great spray, although not quite as powerful as the BB-2000. The TOTO has two different spray modes for both the front and rear wash functions. Its default setting is a wider, softer spray pattern that soothes as it cleanses. The second mode is what TOTO calls “hard spray” which is stronger, narrower and feels more like other bidet seat sprays on the market. In our estimation, the BB-2000 rear wash is still about 15% stronger. It’s not an enema function because it’s still aerated, but it does add significant power to its spray. In past models and their lower end washlets, TOTO’s biggest drawback was a weak spray. The S550e’s hard spray setting certainly addresses it.

Water Heating Type
The Bio Bidet 2000 utilizes a hybrid heating system. This means that the seat’s heating system functions by having a small reservoir of warm water preheated. During a wash, the BB-2000 will draw from this reservoir while also continuing to heat the water for an endless supply. This assures that you never feel a spurt of cold water.
The TOTO Washlet S550e, on the other hand, uses a tankless water heater. This means that there’s no internal reservoir with preheated water. This absence of a reservoir allows the seat to be a bit sleeker, as it heats the water on-demand during a wash. This method is the most energy efficient because nothing is preheated until you begin washing.
It is important to note, however, that the TOTO S550e does a better job than most other tankless heating models to eliminate the initial burst of room temperature water during a wash. Although the S550e uses a tankless heater, it’s extremely quick to heat up. In our testing here at BidetKing, the TOTO rarely showed signs of a latent warm spray.

Unique Features
Bio Bidet BB-2000:
Enema Function - Although there are a handful of enema functions out in the market for bidet seats, none can really compare to the BB-2000’s enema spray (other than the BB-1000). The main reason here is because of how powerful and narrow the spray is on this function. The spray pressure really aids the narrow shape to penetrate and relieve constipation or cleanse the rectal area.
Powerful Pump - If one thing is repeated in the article, it is the power of the BB2000. The Bio Bidet’s pump puts out more water than pretty much any other brand unit on the bidet market. Do not be intimidated though, this power is fully adjustable as well as aerated in order to have a very comfortable yet thorough wash.

TOTO S550e:
Soft and Hard Spray - With two different spray patterns, you have your choice between a softer, soothing wash or a stronger cleansing stream.
EWATER+ - EWATER+ is a very unique feature exclusive to TOTO. It electrolyzes the water and uses it to premist the toilet bowl between uses. Theoretically, this should help keep the toilet bowl cleaner by preventing fecal matter from sticking to it. The TOTO S550e also uses EWATER+ to clean the nozzles for an extra layer of sanitizing.
Automatic Lid and Seat - The auto lid is a feature limited to only a handful of units on the market and the S550e is one of the few to boast one. This fully automatic lid senses when you approach and lifts the lid and/or seat automatically. For those who do not wish for the seat and lid to open every time one passes by the toilet, the auto function can be turned off and lifting/lowering can be controlled via remote instead.
User Presets - The TOTO S550e remote control has the ability to save 2 user presets. These memory settings don’t save every detail of your wash, but they can remember water temp, spray pressure and nozzle positioning for two individuals.

The remote comes with its own holster which can be placed on the wall with its own adhesive strip or drilled into the wall with its small screw hole. The remote can also be removed from the holster and held in hand for added comfort.
The TOTO S550e’s remote is a slimmer, wireless metallic remote with some advanced features. The front side of the S550e remote is touch sensitive and doesn’t have actual push buttons. It also has small indicator LED lights that show which function is active. The basic wash, dry, nozzle, pressure and temperature settings are all done on the front side. The rear of the S550e remote has a small LCD screen with physical buttons that allow you to control the advanced settings.

Differences in Nozzle Construction
The TOTO S550e uses a single plastic nozzle with different sections for each wash function. It features an antimicrobial surface and coating. The plastic nozzle construction makes some people fret, but this should not be a concern as TOTO has more than 50 years of experience and research in the bidet industry. Additionally, the TOTO S550e’s EWATER+ feature helps with sterilizing the nozzle during its self cleaning operations. This is the same electrolyzed water technology it uses to mist the toilet bowl.
The Bio Bidet BB-2000’s nozzle is constructed of stainless steel with a plastic removable tip. This plastic tip is designed for easy replacement in the case of any issues with the spray of the unit or simply if you question the integrity of it. The Bio Bidet also uses a self-cleaning, single nozzle system with different sections for its various wash functions.

Seat Durability
In regards to seat durability, both the Bio Bidet BB-2000 and TOTO S550e are outstanding. These are essentially the two most sturdy seats we’ve found. Both seats are capable of supporting weight of around 400lbs and are built to last. Both the Bio Bidet BB 2000 and TOTO S550e are produced with sturdy polypropylene, glossy plastic and rank highest in durability in our luxury class section.
