When comparing bidet seats of different price ranges, cars are a great analogy with which to compare. A budget Toyota Corolla and a luxury Mercedes Benz S Class will have most of the same basic features: 4 wheels, 4 doors, air conditioning, power door locks, stereo system, and they’ll get you from point A to point B. However, they are built with different quality materials and one car can get you there faster and in more style. With bidet toilet seats, most of the basic features are the same in all seats: front and rear wash, heated seat, dryer, and adjustable settings. However, you’ll find that the performance, build quality, and some unique bidet features will set some models apart from others.

Price - Good quality bidet seats can vary in price anywhere from $250 - $1000. Entry level bidet seats will offer low prices of $250 to about $380, mid-level seats will range from $400 - $600, and luxury bidet seats are north for $600. The different price ranges hint at the quality of the bidet seat, but price alone does not make a certain bidet better for your needs than another one.

Differences In Warranty - Warranty varies in the different ranges for electric bidets. Entry level bidet toilet seats tend to have the least amount of warranty (although this is not necessarily always the case) which is usually 1 year. Mid-level seats can vary widely in warranty - some offer a one year warranty and some of the better options offer up to three years. Luxury units (in almost all instances except for TOTO), offer 3 year warranties, some even offer an extended warranty by up to three additional years.

Spray Pressure - This is something that many aren’t aware of, but it is an important factor to keep in mind. Spray pressure is something one should consider along with the price tag. It is usually the case that the lower the price tag, the lower the spray performance. However, this isn’t necessarily always the case, but it is something to consider when deciding which tier bidet seat to purchase.

Build Quality - Build quality does tend to change from the different tiers of bidet seats. Although no seat is fragile, the elements chosen for each bidet are refined with every tier. Entry level bidet seats tend to use the most basic build quality with materials like ABS plastic and non-sittable lids. Higher end bidet seats will use polypropylene plastic, stronger hinges, stainless steel nozzles and a sittable lid. These are not hard rules, but simply some examples of what luxury bidets have over entry level models.

Unique Features - Entry level bidets tend to keep it simple. Many of these more basic bidet seats will lack options like a deodorizer, stainless steel nozzles, auto opening/closing seat and lid, and user presets. What you can expect from an entry level seat is some form of heated water, heated seat, and most of the time the ability to control the nozzle position. Some entry level seats will come with a remote and some will not. Mid-level bidet toilet seats on the other hand tend to offer a bit more, including: the ability to control the nozzles, warm air dryer, pulse features, oscillation, and a nightlight. Mid-level seats almost always have remotes and sometimes offer the option for a side panel instead of a remote. In addition, mid-level seats will always offer some type of warranty that will range from 1-3 years. Luxury bidet seats tend to have the latest and greatest technology available for each brand. Some luxury bidets will offer unique features like an enema function, user presets on the remote, auto opening/closing seat and lid, dual nozzles, night light, sterilization features, and much more. Warranties in most cases for luxury seats are nearly always 3 years and the build quality is top notch.

Like most things in life, bidet toilet seats are available in a wide range of different prices. Higher prices don’t always mean higher quality and better performance, and its important to flush out what’s most important to you as an individual. Do you want a no-frills bidet seat that simply cleans and dries? Do you want a more luxurious, spa-like experience that can be more customized to your needs? Find the features that are most important to you, and then shop the bidet seats that perform those functions well.
